Honoring the Path of the Warrior

Honoring the Path of the Warrior

Honoring the Path of the Warrior was founded by Lee Klinger Lesser and Chris Fortin in 2008 to provide a community of refuge and practice for returning veterans. One-day events and retreats are held throughout the year; they are non-denominational and free of charge to veterans who have served since 1990.

States of Grace

States of Grace

States of Grace is a a feature-length documentary about longtime Zen Center resident Dr. Grace Dammann and her remarkable recovery following a head-on collision on the Golden Gate Bridge. The film follows her for four years as she struggles to come to terms with her injuries and find meaning in her radically transformed life. Family roles are turned upside down as her longtime partner, abiding abbess Fu Schroeder, becomes Grace’s primary caregiver and the only able-bodied person in their household, taking care of both Grace and their disabled teenage daughter. The filmmakers are embarking on an ambitious outreach campaign to develop a companion curriculum guide and have the film adopted broadly in a variety of educational settings, including with doctors and medical students, physical therapists, social workers, caregiving advocates, disability-rights organizations and others.
